The weekend in Prague in the sign of small and micro breweries


Czech like the beer! They know to brew excellent beer and they are also very good in its consumption. Beer is very good digestive when drank in moderate amount. The history of brewing of the beer is going back in Central Europe to early middle ages. But the beer that time was denser and served partly as the soup as well. And it was more secure to drink boiled water than just the liquid from the well. Centuries ago there was a privilege of nobles, cities or for example various monasteries to brew the beer. Nowadays world is composed from big and economically strong frequently traditional breweries producing high quality beers but in spite of it in last about fifteen years this strength recalled foundation of today already over 300 various mini or micro local facilities. And the winner is thanks God the customer. One would never believe that someone will fight against big giants as Plisner Urquell etc. However this beer ranks among the best one in the world. But it happened.

Where to taste variety of these small breweries´ beers this weekend?

The festival “Pivo na náplavce” take places on Friday and Saturday June 16 - 17. 2017 from 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Fri) and 10:00 AM - 10:00PM (Sat). Náplavka in Czech slang language means riverbank in English. Especially right side part of the river Vltava - many of its sections are very alive hosting frequently various activities whether permanent of irregular. In particular the section between Palackého most and Railway bridge at Výtoň (bridges). There is no fee, nevertheless you are supposed to buy 3 dcl lovely glass, you get also catalogue of participating mini and micro-breweries and the pen as the souvenir. If you choose the glass without the logo of the festival, you pay only 100 CZK (about 4,5 $/ 4€), if you want to get the glass with the logo of the festival, you pay double. With this bought set, which serves as the ticket, you can attend and sample in the festival both of the days. You pay for your consumption. The size of the glass: even if half of a litter is typical size of beer in Czech Republic, the task of this festival is not to make you drunk, but give you a review of whole range of tastes of small breweries´ beers. You have chance to choose from about fifty small beer companies. Typical beer snacks will be available as well.

If you already know the neighborhoods of the river and you want to proceed higher and still you want to taste the beer, then Prague is proper place this weekend.

In Royal garden of Prague castle takes places parallel another beer celebration. Beer festival of about 70 micro and mini breweries from our country and couple of the guests. The fee is 400 CZK (about 22 $ or 16€) is you buy the ticket ahead of the time, 450 CZK when buying the ticket on the spot. Once being inside, you have unlimited consumption of the beer included the ticket. Even more - you can buy some snacks, but it´s absolutely OK to bring you own food and water, sit down on the lawn (which is usually prohibited as you are in Royal garden) and have your own picnic.
